What the Chaplain Does
The Southaven Police Department's Chaplain performs the following duties:
- Aiding victims of crimes and their families
- Assisting victims and witnesses who have been traumatized
- Being available to counsel with law enforcement personnel
- Coordinating a variety of agencies and churches to bring needed help in times of crisis
- Delivering death notifications
- Providing family crisis management

- Providing natural disaster assistance
- Providing public assistance
- Responding to calls 24 hours a day
- Responding to accidents (vehicular and other types)
- Showing caring concern to all those who are in need
- Working with law enforcement families

Types of Calls
The Southaven Police Department's Chaplain responds to the following calls:
- Accidents with severe injuries or death
- Death of a person
- Disasters
- Family disturbances
- Homicides
- Other incidents upon the request of a law enforcement officer
- Suicide / suicide prevention
- Violent assaults
