What the Chaplain Does

The Southaven Police Department's Chaplain performs the following duties:
  • Aiding victims of crimes and their families
  • Assisting victims and witnesses who have been traumatized
  • Being available to counsel with law enforcement personnel
  • Coordinating a variety of agencies and churches to bring needed help in times of crisis
  • Delivering death notifications
  • Providing family crisis management
  • Providing natural disaster assistance
  • Providing public assistance
  • Responding to calls 24 hours a day
  • Responding to accidents (vehicular and other types)
  • Showing caring concern to all those who are in need
  • Working with law enforcement families

Types of Calls

The Southaven Police Department's Chaplain responds to the following calls:
  • Accidents with severe injuries or death
  • Death of a person
  • Disasters
  • Family disturbances
  • Homicides
  • Other incidents upon the request of a law enforcement officer
  • Suicide / suicide prevention
  • Violent assaults
