The City of Southaven has been following the development and spread of this disease throughout the world prior to its anticipated arrival in our city.  As with any threat to the health and safety of our citizens, we view this as a very serious matter and will take and promote all preventative and treatment measures recommended by the CDC.  Specifically, we have communicated and incorporated these measures to protect our first responders coming into direct contact with infected persons.  All City employees have also been informed in advance of special precautions and liberties to minimize the risks and spread of this disease.  We encourage all of our citizens to visit the  following CDC and Mississippi State Department of Health links and do the same:

Emphatically, it’s important to use a common-sense approach with personal hygiene and social distancing, however, it’s also critically important that while we prepare, we do not panic.

The City will continue to monitor this by the minute, evaluate any and all risks to our citizens, and respond accordingly.  We will evaluate facts, not hysteria, and update our citizens with any changes at the appropriate time.
