The City of Southaven recently entered a three-year contract with Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. to promote concerts at the BankPlus Amphitheater.  Live Nation is the largest producer of live music concerts in the world, connecting nearly 71 million fans to 26,300 events for over 3,200 artists in 2016.  They own, operate, and/or program over 174 venues throughout the world, including over 50 amphitheaters in North America.

Notable highlights of the contract are as follows:  Live Nation will have the exclusive right to produce concerts at the BankPlus Amphitheater and use the box office on site.  They will produce a minimum of 8 events annually and assume all responsibility of productions.  The City will receive $200,000 annually for rent of the facilities, $1.50 per ticket sold, and 20% of VIP sales.  The City will retain authority to approve all artists and concert events in advance and verify that dates do not conflict with any City-sponsored events.

This agreement will improve the entertainment value and tourism appeal for our city as we will have more concerts than ever before.  Live Nation’s large-scale network of touring agreements will also bring artists to Southaven who would otherwise never come.  I believe this partnership will be extremely successful for both Live Nation and the City of Southaven.
