Update...December 17, 2015

The Swinnea Rd extension is now open for traffic.  Striping and signage will be completed within the next few days which will finalize this long-awaited project.  You can now drive from Stateline Rd to Starlanding Rd without interruption.  This will improve traffic congestion as busy Airways and Getwell intersections may now be avoided.

The projected start date for construction is April 6 with projected completion by October 31.

Original Report...September 26, 2014

This project will extend Swinnea Rd past it's current dead end south to Church Rd.  It will remain a two-lane road at this time.

A special "thanks" to Desoto County and Supervisor Mark Gardner for leading this project and participating in a 50/50 cost share with our City.

Timelines are difficult to estimate with road projects due to weather and so many other contingencies, but it appears that construction will begin in early 2015 and should be completed in early 2016.

This is another road project that our City hopes will help with traffic congestion in the Goodman/Airways/I-55 area.
