Police Chief Steve Pirtle's Retirement

Posted on June 14, 2019 at 11:47 AM by Darren Musselwhite

How many people stay with an organization for more than 36 years anymore?  You just don’t see this kind of loyalty much now.  Steve Pirtle started his service to the Southaven Police Department and City of Southaven in 1982.  He has served in many capacities and experienced about everything possible during his law enforcement career.  Never did he hesitate to step up and serve our city, regardless of how tough the assignment.  He always placed our city and police department’s needs before his own; and it has been obvious that he truly cared about his officers and the citizens of our city.

Chief Pirtle gave our city 36 1/2 years of loyal service.  He has had a tremendously successful law enforcement career, but more importantly, is a great man with a great name! He is one of the most unselfish and hardest-working people I’ve ever known.  Whenever I asked him for help, he stopped what he was doing and delivered solutions with detail.  He played a key role in making our Police Department and City what it is today.  We will miss him!

Thank you Chief!  I sincerely appreciate all of your help to me and your outstanding service to the City.  It has been an honor to work with you!  May God continue to bless you in all your future endeavors!
