Chief Steve Pirtle of the Southaven Police Department announces that the 15th annual Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) will begin on Monday February 18, 2019. The twelve-week class will be taught on Monday’s at the Southaven Police Department West Precinct, located at 7320 Highway 51 Southaven Mississippi. The CPA gives citizens an insight into how the SPD serves their community. All classes will begin at 6:30pm and will be taught by members of the SPD or law enforcement officers in the surrounding area. Topics of instruction will include Patrol Operations, Communications, Investigations, SWAT, K-9, Traffic, Search and Rescue, Tour of the Desoto County Jail, Narcotics.
The course is open to any resident of Desoto County. You must be over 21 years old. To register pick up an application at the Southaven Police Department, on Northwest drive or visit Southaven.org.
Applications must be turned in by February 11, 2019.
The class size is limited to 25.
